Extract MP3 audio from any video file

Videos come in many containers: MOV from iPhones and Macs, MKV from screen recorders and media libraries, AVI and WMV from older cameras and Windows software, WebM from browsers and online recorders. This video to MP3 converter accepts all of them, reads the audio track with ffmpeg.wasm and writes a standard MP3 file you can play anywhere, send by message, import into an editor or add to a playlist. The conversion runs entirely on your own device, so family videos, meeting recordings and unreleased footage stay private.

Choosing the right MP3 settings

The bitrate controls the balance between size and fidelity. For spoken content such as meetings, lectures, interviews and voice notes, 128 kbps is clear and compact. For music videos, concerts or anything with rich sound, choose 192 kbps or higher; 320 kbps is the maximum the MP3 format allows. Video soundtracks are usually already compressed, so a higher bitrate mainly avoids adding new artifacts rather than improving the source. Multi-track files use the first audio track.

Working with large and multiple files

You can select several videos at once and they are processed one after another with a progress bar and a preview player for each result. Processing uses your device's memory instead of a server, so there is no upload limit, but very long or 4K recordings need free RAM. The first conversion loads the ffmpeg engine and later ones start immediately. For a WAV or OGG file instead of MP3, use the audio converter; to keep the video but change its format, use the MOV to MP4 or WebM to MP4 tools.

Frequently asked questions

Which video formats are supported?
MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WebM, WMV, FLV, M4V and 3GP all work, as long as the file contains an audio track that ffmpeg can decode.
Is the video uploaded anywhere?
No. The audio is extracted and encoded to MP3 locally in your browser with ffmpeg.wasm.
Can I download audio from a YouTube link?
No. This tool converts video files that are already on your device. It does not download from streaming sites.
What if the video has no sound?
Conversion fails for that file because there is no audio stream to extract. Other files in the batch are still converted.
